“ The only reason I'm not rating this a 5 star, is because they don't display any prices. If you are price agnostic, it's a 5 star no question. When we came and ordered they try to sell us a bunch of items and that would've made our meal much more expensive. Be careful when ordering any of their fresh seafood because it's going to add up. We got the crab bee hoon and it was amazing. I don't toss around this lightly....it was the best crab I've had in my life. I'm not sure how much of it was their cooking vs their ability to get the best quality crabs. Normally crab can be a little flakey, but here the meat really stuck together and you can get such big bites vs just peeling away for the little meat strands. It was just so tender as well. It's not like there's that much sauce on it or anything, the crab itself was the star and they did everything they could to make sure to not take away from it. Normally, I always fight to eat the eggs here. This time it wasn't true because there was just so much egg! I couldn't believe my eyes in how much egg there was (gotta watch my cholesterol). There's some noodles (as that's what bee hoon is) and it goes really well with the crab as a filler. Nothing too special about the noodles (it is flavored well for sure). Just because it looks cheap, doesn't mean it's cheap. Just cause it looks pretty ordinary, doesn't mean it's ordinary crab. Loved the crab here and it came out to be S$95. ”
“ This place contains multiple stalls that sell different type of food. Among one of the stalls that I came for was the one that was selling duck. The duck was tender, fresh, and superb. The sauce that went along with it was super delicious. The rice with duck sauce also made it very tasty to eat. This place is definitely one of the best places to come for duck and duck rice. ”
“ Yes it is expensive, but no more expensive than any other quality restaurant in Singapore. One crab was $95. We paid $80/kg at Long Beach Seafood so it's not an outrageous price to pay for a big Sri Lankan crab. No, you won't get white glove service. If you're reading this, you probably have already seen th Anthony Bourdain episode, so why the fuk would you expect Michelin star service?? Yelp is full of fukkin people who expect great service everywhere when is really the food that should matter. It's two little old ladies who are the waiters, you really expect them to change out your silverware after every dish? Jeezus, get over yourselves. Anyway, the food here is good. The crab is fresh and sweet and the veggies are probably the best I've ever had. Get the gong gong and then save the sauce to dip the crab in. ”
“ This place seems to conjure up a little bit of debate. On the one hand, yes its got zero ambiance (other than the local coffee shop ambiance). Yes the owner is a bit surly. Yes you'd probably want to wait until you get home to go to the bathroom. Yes its way overpriced for seafood. BUT its DAMN good seafood. I rate it as one of my most enjoyable dining experiences in Singapore. The food is just awesome. Its a spot I like to take people who are visiting because you wont find it anywhere else. The crab bee hoon is so good. I think my favorite though were the scallops. The sauce was so garlicy and good. And talk about garlic....the prawns were raised in an ocean of garlic then they beat them to death with cloves of garlic then they cooked them with even more garlic. My hands stunk for days, but it was worth it. The sea snails have this spicy sauce that I seriously almost took it home to save it for later. You wont go here every day or month but just go here at least once to try it out. ”
“ This is the famously infamous (or infamously famous) place that foodies will know of. I am humbled to only know about this place the day I visited it a fortnight ago. On that day, I've heard stories (almost like tales and legends) about this place from my cousin who brought me there. After having the experience of eating there, I've been waiting and thinking about what to write of this place because it just brings in so many mixed emotions. I shall just write the whole process of it here. Emotion 1: Negativity When you eat here for the first time, you'd better know you are paying big bucks here. However the environment and place will smash all your expectations into pieces because of how run-down it seems. The toilet is horrendous (you can't even lock the door). Paying big bucks for a lousy place = doesn't seem like a good deal. Other than the place, if your order taker is the chef himself, get ready for bad attitude or nonchalant at best. Read of it more on the other yelpers' reviews. Emotion 2: Gradual acceptance When the wave of food comes, the person who brought you there will rave all about it. You may come to gradually accept that it is good, but not all that good and worth it though for what they (or rather, he) charges you. Emotion 3: Euphoria Dish after dish came out. Every dish served was nice, unique in its own way. There are only 8 special dishes you should try. It's on the bill I attached on one of the photos. And to cut to the chase, I missed the last dish cause I was too full. I missed the crab bee hoon. YES I MISSED IT. You can't believe I came to this restaurant and missed the most famous dish of theirs. I was too full I couldn't stomach any more stuff no matter what delicacy from heaven it is. So we decided to pack some of it home for me to try. The look of disappointment on everyone's face that I didn't get to try it was immense. They all said "it wouldn't taste as good when you bring home". The next night I was hungry at 9pm, took the crab bee hoon and microwaved it. When I tried the bee hoon with the crab and sauce and everything, I almost fainted. IT WAS DAMN BLOODY GOOD! I almost dropped my bowl, I almost couldn't stop myself from shouting out "yes yes yes!" There is nothing close to this anywhere. It's like bun-jee jumping. Try it if you dare. The experience is gonna be unforgettable. ”
“ You don't ask question about price or food here, just listen to the chef who'll personally take your order as well. You may stop him if you think you'll have enough food, but other than that just follow whatever he suggests. Price is crazy, yes (I don't expect you to come here every week, but it's good for special occasions), but the taste is great as well. Ordered crab bee hoon, cockles, and veggie for 4 people - enough food for everybody and nobody complains about taste or portion, although we kinda hesitate when we saw the bill. The famous crab bee hoon was great, tasty sauce with big crabs. ”
“ Sin Huat Seafood Restaurant in Geylang Rd is one of my fave seafood restaurant in Singapore. Any self-professed foodie should visit this infamous restaurant at least once in his/her lifetime. For those of you who don't know of its infamy, Anthony Bourdain featured SH in his tour of Singapore in 2005-2006. The downside is that it has exorbitant prices but its worthy. I had the infamous crab bee hoon. Ohhh, they were good. The sauce was very shiok and they use live scallops which you don't readily see in seafood restaurant. Love it! ”
